THE MATILDICA TALK SHOW WITH MARCO SCARPONI AND GILBERTO SIMONI. Monday, July 25 at 9 p. m

On the evening preceding the Granfondo Matildica, the bike village in Victory Square hosted a Talk Show entitled "The road belongs to everyone, starting with the most fragile" hosted by Francesco Ferrari.

The protagonists of an interesting debate on the issue of road safety were Marco Scarponi, president of the Michele Scarponi Foundation, the head of the political secretariat of the presidency of the Emilia-Romagna Region Giammaria Manghi, Reggio Emilia City Councilor for Sport Raffaella Curioni, cycling champion Gilberto Simoni, the president of the European Cycling Union Enrico Della Casa and the president of ASD Cooperatori Roberto Camorani.

Evidencing great communication skills Marco Scarponi stimulated dialogue on controls, which are very lacking in Italy, prevention that through education should be mandatory in schools, and infrastructure that is often inappropriate or insistent. The evening was also an opportunity to read portions of the book "Dear Michele" in which no less than 58 testimonies of life with Michele Scarponi told by personalities from the world of cycling are enclosed. Some of these testimonies were read by young cyclists from ASD Cooperatori and Handbiker Claudio Sorvillo. The talk show, in a televised version, will be broadcast on Monday, July 25 by Telereggio, as part of an evening that starting at 9 p. m. will be entirely dedicated to the Granfondo Matildica including a summary of the race.

A CAR FLEET THAT RESPECTS CYCLISTS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Among the special features that marked the event with the "Eco-Green" sticker were the electric and hybrid cars provided by Auto&Auto, a Nissan dealership in Reggio Emilia. There were 10 Nissan cars deployed among the cyclists on the mediofondo and granfondo routes, two for the start of the race, four for race directors and vice-directors, two for the international jury and two for the end of the race. In addition, 4 cars remained on display in Victory Square during the three days the bike village was open.

A truly top car fleet for the 50th edition of the Matildica.

During the award ceremony of the Granfondo Matildica, ASD Cooperatori president Roberto Camorani presented a check for €1,000. 00 to Sarha Mineo Vice President of Nondasola Onlus, an association that has been fighting male violence against women since 1995. The donation stems from the "A Month for Women" initiative that ASD Cooperators had set up in the Granfondo registration drive during the Women’s Day period.

VANNI LASAGNI TROPHY

It went to Ciclistica Correggese for the cup named for the 2nd Vanni Lasagni Memorial, the Cooperatori member cyclist who passed away in May 2020 due to an illness while riding his bicycle.

The award was given to the Correggio sports group closely linked in sporting values and traditions to ASD Cooperatori and with whom in friendship Vanni Lasagni loved to share his cycling.

Vanni Lasagni was a high-ranking cross-country skier, always willing to help his teammates, and in the 35 years he lived in a Cooperatori jersey he participated in all the Italian Cycling Championship rallies, contributing to the company’s 17 national titles. Presenting the cup to Ciclistica Correggese in Victory Square were the family members of Vanni Lasagni.
