Overview of Granfondo Matildica Merida 2024

The Granfondo Matildica Merida 2024 is a celebration of cycling and the love for the Reggio Emilia region. This year’s edition features spectacular routes that traverse historic and natural landscapes, offering a unique experience for both competitive cyclists and cycling tourists. New for 2024 is the relocation of the start and finish line to Corso Garibaldi in Reggio Emilia, the use of the Chiostri della Ghiara as the main event hub, and the involvement of local cycling clubs in organizing the event.

The Granfondo, set for Sunday, August 25th, includes:

- Granfondo Route: 155 km with a 2100-meter elevation gain, aimed at those seeking a challenging and scenic ride.

- Mediofondo Route:119 km with a 1400-meter elevation gain, suitable for those looking for a demanding yet more accessible course.

- Short Route (non-competitive): 73 km with a 700-meter elevation gain, perfect for cycling tourists wanting a more relaxed day.

Participation and Support

Over 1,000 participants are expected across the Granfondo, Mediofondo, and cycling tourist routes, which are part of the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. The event will be supported by 300 volunteers and 27 motorcycle marshals.
